How do we stay motivated on long writing projects?
This week I’m sharing a sneak peak inside The Fold, my membership for writers who want to get their work done.
The Fold includes weekly audio sessions and I’m sharing a recent question about motivation, which came from a community member.
In this audio session I cover:
Why motivation isn’t constant (and why I don’t think we shouldn’t worry when it isn’t)
Learning to keep working, even when we aren’t motivated
Diagnosing where the lack of motivation is coming from by looking at these four areas
Energy
Lack of input/inspiration
Reaching a challenging part of your manuscript/proposal
Specific fears relating to what you’re writing.
I include journaling prompts in each of those areas to really understand the problem before you can take next steps to improve things, and also talk about a particularly tricky time I had last year with motivation when I abandoned two different manuscripts and how I went about turning things around.
